FEES

Contact City Hall for plot prices.

​

Fees for opening and closing a grave shall be $750.00 (seven hundred fifty dollars) on weekdays (Monday through Friday), additional premium on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays.  Opening of graves for infants ranges from $200-$300. Add $150.00 (one hundred fifty dollars) from November 15 to April 15.

Burial of cremation remains is $75.00 (seventy-five dollars) on weekdays, $150.00 (one hundred fifty dollars) on weekends and holidays.

An outside firm may be hired to open the gravesite upon obtaining approval from the City Clerk’s Office.  All expenses occurred shall be the responsibility of the family and not the City’s.

An individual may open a site for burial of cremation remains with approval from the City Clerk’s Office.  The top of cremation remains must be at least 18″ below the surface.

 

GRAVE MARKERS

No monument or marker is to be placed without first contacting the City Clerk.  Grave markers are to include a cement base with a 4″ margin on all sides, wider than the marker.

The City of Rose City does not assume any responsibility for any damage to or maintenance of such grave markers.

Any intentional damage to or destruction of such grave markers may be malicious destruction of property and may be prosecuted accordingly.

OPENING OF GRAVES AND/OR INSTALLATION OF GRAVE MAKERS

Request for opening graves or installation of grave markers shall be given to the City Clerk at least 48 hours prior to the required time.  When this request is made the City Clerk shall advise whether or not the request can be fulfilled.

FLOWERS AND SHRUBS OR TREES

Trees and shrubs may only be planted by City employees and only adjacent to streets and not on grave sites.  Any live flowers must be in pots or urns. All winter decorations must be removed by April 15th and all summer decorations must be removed by October 15th.

MAINTENANCE

 Perpetual care and maintenance is not guaranteed.  It is, however the intention of the City of Rose City to care for and maintain this cemetery to the best of their ability now and in foreseeable future.

MOTOR VEHICLES

Driving motor vehicles shall be confined to designated roadways, except for the City’s maintenance vehicles.  Motorcycles, ORV’s and snowmobiles are prohibited at all times.

TRANSFER OR RESALE OF LOTS

Transfer of ownership shall be requested by application to the City Council.

Resale of lots to third parties is prohibited.   The City will repurchase a cemetery lot for the same amount paid by the owner of the lot. However, an owner may make application to the City to assign or transfer a cemetery lot to a relative or friend, without consideration.
